Oak Hill Cemetery Veterans
Veterans of eight wars are buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Varick, New York. Every Memorial Day, volunteers place American flags at each Veterans' tombstone to commemorate their service.
The William G. Pomeroy Foundation approved a grant on July 18, 2022 to the Oak Hill Cemetery Association for a historic marker recognizing "Veterans of Eight Wars" buried on the cemetery grounds. We would like to extend a very special note of gratitude to Philip Knapp for his extensive efforts in researching, compiling, and submitting the necessary documentation for this historical designation.
